Florida doesn’t ask much of its heat, which is exactly why it fails on the one cold night it’s needed. A heat pump runs year-round and does double duty, so a heating fault is often a cooling fault waiting to happen; a furnace sits idle for months and then won’t light when the first real cold snap arrives. Either way, a house that won’t hold temperature on a 40-degree night is a real problem, especially for older residents and small children. We answer 24 hours a day. An after-hours call carries a flat $89 service call fee, credited toward the repair.
Call when there’s no heat at all, when the air from the vents is warm but never hot, when the system short-cycles on and off, or when a heat pump won’t switch over to heating and leaves you running expensive backup strip heat around the clock. A burning or musty smell on first startup of the season, a furnace that ignites and then drops out, or a breaker that keeps tripping are all signs to have it looked at rather than nursed along.
Heat pumps in particular slip as they age in a way that’s easy to miss, because the backup heat quietly takes over and the only real clue is the power bill.
We test before we replace — real readings, not guesswork. On heat pumps the usual culprits are the reversing valve, the defrost control, contactors and capacitors; on furnaces it’s igniters, flame sensors, and safety switches doing their job because something upstream is wrong. Our trucks carry the parts behind most heating failures, so the majority of repairs finish on the first visit rather than waiting on an order. Before we leave, we confirm the system actually holds temperature, not just that it fired once.
On a heat pump we check the defrost cycle and the auxiliary-heat staging, because a unit stuck in defrost or leaning on strip heat runs constantly and still under-heats. On a gas furnace we check the heat exchanger and the safety chain.
Diagnostics and estimates are free Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm. After 5pm, on weekends and on holidays, there’s a flat $89 service call fee, credited toward the repair. Written price for the repair before we start. We repair every major brand regardless of who installed it, and we’ll tell you honestly when an aging system is better replaced than repaired.
