Most people don’t go shopping for an air conditioner. They go shopping when the old one has quit, or when a repair quote has climbed high enough that replacing it starts to make more sense than fixing it again.
Either way it comes down to two questions: is this system worth saving, and if not, what replaces it.

Central air suits most Winter Haven homes, particularly larger ones that already have ductwork. One outdoor condenser, one indoor air handler, conditioned air to the whole house.
Heat Pump Installation is worth a serious look in this climate. A heat pump is an air conditioner that can run backwards, so it handles both the long cooling season and the handful of cold nights on one system, and it’s usually the cheaper way to heat a Florida house than electric strip heat.
Ductless Mini-Split Installation is the better answer for homes with no ductwork, for additions, garages and Florida rooms, and for that one room that never matches the rest of the house. It also lets you cool one zone without paying to cool all of them.
Ductwork Repair & Replacement goes with more installations here than people expect. Ducts sized for the old system are often wrong for the new one, and leaking ducts in a Florida attic waste a large share of what you just paid for.
On equipment, we’re a licensed dealer for Carrier, Trane and Rheem, and we install every one of them. We generally treat SEER 16 as the floor in this area — the cooling season is long enough that the efficiency difference compounds into real money rather than staying theoretical.
Which of these is right for your house comes out of a Manual J load calculation, not out of a catalog. It’s the industry standard for sizing, and it accounts for what your house actually is: square footage and ceiling volume, window count and orientation, insulation, solar gain and how many people live there.
Installations here succeed or fail on sizing, and they fail in one direction: too big. The old rule of thumb — one ton per 500 square feet — oversizes systems in this climate.
An oversized unit cools the air fast and shuts off. Cooling and dehumidifying are the same process, so a system running in short bursts never runs long enough to pull the moisture out. You get a house reading 74 degrees that still feels clammy, higher bills, and a system that dies years early. Half a ton out is the difference between comfortable and merely cold.
The other Winter Haven problem is attic ductwork. Attics here pass 130 degrees, so ducts give up much of their cooling on the way to the room. We test for leakage, seal joints with mastic rather than tape, and size ducts to the new system.
